Route: Yangon – Inle Lake – Bagan - Monywa – Mandalay

Tour Details

Day 1 - Yangon - Arrival

Arrive Yangon and transfer to hotel in downtown.

Free at leisure in the afternoon to find culture, street food and local activities by your own. Witness the most sacred Buddhist site in all of Burma—Shwedagon Pagoda in the evening.

Overnight in Yangon – 2 nights

Day 2 - Yangon - Day trip to Syriam

Today, drive towards east to Syriam and  Kyauktan, once an old Portuguese settlement and a major port, but now a sleepy village, located across Bago river from the city of Yangon. It is also home to the largest port in the country called Thilawa Port. Kyauktan town is next to Syriam and located at the bank of Kyauk Tan river.

Leisurely drive to Syriam by passing 1 Kilo meter long Thanlyn bridge and enjoying local daily life along one hour journey.

On arrival at Kyauktan, take ferry boat to Yele pagoda set in the middle of islet. Witness the local pilgrimage and offering fish feeding.

Then, back to shore where your vehicle is awaiting.

On the way back , a stop at National Races Village at Tharkayta  to learn about the different tribes and culture of Myanmar National Races. This large outdoor museum shows examples of daily life in all Myanmar states. It is also interesting to enjoy cultural dance if available (available on weekend days and public holidays). If you wish, a stop at Crocodile natural farm.

Then, transfer to down town.

Return to hotel and balance of the day at leisure

Day 3 - Yangon to Inle Lake by overnight bus

Am free at leisure to explore your individual interest.

Day 4 - Inle Lake

Boat tour to see rotating market, floating gardens and villages.

Overnight in Nyaung Shwe – 1 night

Day 5 - Inle Lake to Bagan by night bus

Today, you have free time to explore array of activities such as a wheel to Red Mountain vineyard or nearby villages, cooking tour, trekking etc.. by your own.

Take the night bus from Inle Lake to Bagan later in the afternoon.

Overnight onboard.

Day 6 - Bagan

Today, begins your e-bike adventure to the Shwezigon pagoda,which will show you how Myanmar’s Stupas were built and bulstling Nyaung U market. Then, continue biking on New Bagan’s main road towards towards Tharaba gate to enter the archaeological zone. Visit Gubyaukgyi temple in Myinkaba village, where Jataka scenes and stories from the Buddha cover the walls , and Dhammayangyi Temple, the largest in Bagan and built in the 12th century by King narathu. Then, venture to Manuha Temple, 11th century temple with the huge buddha images and Nan Phaya,12th century stone temple.

At around noon, take a break to avoid the midday heat of Bagan and return to hotel for a relax.

Return to the city in the afternoon to continue your e-bike tour to a local lacquer ware workshop where you will learn about the incredibly labour-intensive process used to create this beautiful traditional handicraft.

Your e-bike tour concludes with a ride to terrace behind the Sulamani temple to enjoy sunset view over the temples before relaxing bike to hotel.

Overnight in Bagan – 2 nights

Day 7 - Bagan

Chance to explore some of the most beautiful and historically significant temples by your own. Witness sunset over the plain and Ayeyarwaddy river from one of the monument.

Day 8 - Drive to Monywa

Drive towards Monywa. On the way, a stop at Amyint village to explore treasures of ruined pagodas, brick monuments and mural paintings. This village is located on the way from Monywa to Bagan along the narrow road. Along the way, you will find agriculture farming, villages, lining trees, ox cards and motor bikes. You will gain different atmosphere that you have never experienced  before.

On arrival at Monywa, visit Thanboddhay Pagoda, the richly decorated central stupa has no less than 845 smaller stupas around it.  Inside the patio, you will see thousands of Buddha images (reportedly over 500,000) decorating every wall, archway and niche. The buildings in the compound have interesting jataka reliefs and there is a huge Reclining Buddha & standing Buddha nearby.

 

Transfer to Monywa and hotel check in.

Overnight in Monywa – 2 nights

Accommodation : Shwe Taung Tan Lake View Hotel

Local family running business & recently opened. Large bed with separate living room and each room offer balcony facing to the garden and outdoor pool. Quite and get sound sleep. Breakfast served array of dishes from Asian to Western. Walking along the lake at the opposite side of hotel is amazing. Nearby beer station and restaurants are walking distance.

Day 9 - Monywa

Today, drive to visit a sandstone cave system in the Po Win Hill, named after a famous 'zawgyi' (alchemist) who once lived here. The Caves of Po Win Hill, numbering more than one hundred, are full of Buddhist statues and murals. Most exhibit the Innwa style but some may date from the 14th Century. There are over 400,000 images in these and other nearby caves. Nearby, visit Shwe Ba Hill located on the western bank of Chindwin river. Temples and caves are curved out of volcanic rocks and inside walls of some caves are decorated with 13 to 18 century mural paintings. Enjoy overview from the top of the mountain and return  to hotel.

 

Afternoon at leisure to take a stroll along the lake side and relax at hotel.

Day 10 - Drive to Mandalay

HEAR THE HEART BEAT OF THE NORTHERN CAPITAL

Continue to Mandalay(150 Km,about 4 hours). Enroute, visit to  picturesque Sagaing Hill which is perhaps the living centre of Buddhist faith in Myanmar today. The hills here are dotted with numerous pagodas and monasteries. Enjoy a magnificent view over the surrounding area. Anoher visit to  Mingun village for its uncracked Mingun Bell , the all-white Hsinbyume Pagoda & Pathodawgyi. Then, continue to Mandalay.

 

On arrival at Mandalay, stop at Amarapura to capture that memorable photo of the U Bein Bridge as the sun sets over the Taungthaman Lake.

 

Overnight in Mandalay – 1 night
